Indianama 2017
Design Challenge
Indianama was started by Kunel Gaur and Sharon Borgoyary in 2016 to tell the stories of the many Indias that exist through a historical and artistic lens. In 2017, India completed 70 years of independence; a historic milestone. Indianama invited 70 artists from around the world to reimagine India. 70 artists created static and motion tourism style posters to depict a reimagined India.
Solution
The theme I chose was ‘Beyond the Sky’ which focused on the achievements of ISRO in making space exploration possible via cost-efficient means.
I chose to depict a futuristic India somewhere 50 years down the line, being a leader in space exploration.

Concept note: Beyond the Sky
“ISRO has successfully launched a probe into Mars' orbit; this happens to be India's first interplanetary mission and a wonderful achievement for the nation. India has big plans to send probes to Venus, Jupiter and the Sun in the next 3-4 years and manned missions few years down the line. My visual shows an India somewhere 50 years down the line, where we have reusable launchpads for rockets in the Indian Ocean. (You can see the Mumbai sealink somewhere in the backdrop.) Futuristic looking research setups, vehicles, pods, roads and highways are a part of the visual.”
